Building Fluency in the Elementary Classroom

July 29, 2024

Grades 1 ~ 5

Price: $195

Location:

TBD

Timothy Rasinski has talked extensively about the critical

need to address fluency with readers. Oral language

deficits are still impacting students in their goals to read and speak fluently.   Without fluency, readers comprehension can be decimated. This workshop will help give tools to teachers to support and give added value to fluency instruction that can be addressed in large and/or small group.

This workshop is NOT about timing readers with a stop watch.
This workshop IS about :

  • accessing fluency and bringing readers into that conversation

  • building confidence in fluency

  • giving readers tangible strategies and practice in fluency

  • supporting readers in this work in small groups and conferences

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP.

This workshop qualifies for Title 1 funding.

Make checks payable to Koesel Consulting.

Cancellation Policy:  Substitutions are allowed at any time; however, refunds are not given.

All workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

Plan to arrive between 8:10 and 8:20 to sign in, pick up materials and find seating.  If you are expecting a large group from your school, it is a good idea to come early if sitting together is important to you. Dress comfortably and you may want to add layers...buildings can be really cold.
