Registration Forms Below

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP.

All workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

This workshop qualifies for Title 1 funding.

Guided reading is a small group structure that allows teachers to support readers in growing complexities of text.   This two day workshop will support teachers in understanding not only the teaching cycle of guided reading and how to plan a lesson,  but also how to make running records actually work FOR you and narrow down the teaching points in your instruction. This workshop will be great for teachers working with readers that are between levels A-K.

Day 1:  We will...

*explore reading process and hierarchy of skills.

*look at how to identify what to teach by really understanding how to         analyze a running record.

*gain understanding of how to match books to readers.

*recognize the difference between a skill and a strategy.

Day 2: We will...

*clarify the teaching sequence of guided reading.

*understand when to strengthen kids' independent reading through strategy groups and conferences vs when to move them to guided reading for more complex text opportunities.

*learn how to write clear lesson plans for guided reading that include a clear teaching point and a clear strategy.

Teachers will receive handouts and materials to use in small groups. They will be shipped to participants.
