Read Aloud with Accountable Talk is the heart of reading work. During this workshop, we will look deeply at boosting oral fluency, articulation, listening skills, and student comprehension.  We will explicitly teach how to move this work to writing about reading in both read aloud and  independent reading as well as move it into preparation for extended constructed responses.  We will explicitly plan read alouds with stop and jots and writing long opportunities.  We will support teachers by modeling how to long range plan read aloud and writing about reading work across genres to give readers a more robust curriculum for reading response. In addition to this, we will show teachers concrete ways to build essay in response to reading using inferential understanding & text evidence. We will work on ways to move readers to structured essay-type responses in quick and clear ways. We will create a structured essay response, look at concrete ways to READ TO WRITE, and discuss specific ways to elaborate within the essay.

All workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.  

Plan to arrive between 8:10 and 8:20 to sign in, pick up materials, and find seating.  If you are expecting a large group from your school, it is a good idea to come early if sitting together is important to you. Dress comfortably and you may want to add layers...buildings can be really cold.
