Since Covid, the number of children that are qualifying for

speech services has more than doubled.   Young children are

coming to school with huge deficits in their oral language.  If children have deficits in oral language and articulation it can have devastating effects on their phonemic awareness and phonics development.   How can teachers support students who need extra time to develop these skills?  This ONE DAY workshop will address and equip teachers with the following:

  • The components of oral language

  • Articulation and the role it plays in oral language

  • Strategies to support articulation needs

  • Using songs  and shared reading to impact oral language fluency,  articulation and phonemic awareness

  • Immersion Groups: using small group settings to raise quality of language development

Teachers will leave with clear steps and strategies to support young children develop oral language and how to connect it to the phonemic awareness and phonics strands of literacy.

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP.
